Tough decisions for new council, including where to spend the casino revenue

The new council will have some tough decisions to make including what to do with the more than $500,000 provided to the city by Cascades Casino.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation dispersed two payments – $111,134 back in April and another almost $400,000 last month.

The payments are issued by OLG quarterly under the Municipality Contribution Agreement.

Mayor AL McDonald said the current council has set aside a “substantial” amount of casino money into reserves for the next council to allocate.

“Of course it will be up to the next council, but I believe it would be prudent that the funding be directed toward infrastructure renewal.”

Cascades opened its doors in March on Pinewood Park Road.
