The new council will have some tough decisions to make including what to do with the more than $500,000 provided to the city by Cascades Casino.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation dispersed two payments – $111,134 back in April and another almost $400,000 last month.
The payments are issued by OLG quarterly under the Municipality Contribution Agreement.
Mayor AL McDonald said the current council has set aside a “substantial” amount of casino money into reserves for the next council to allocate.
“Of course it will be up to the next council, but I believe it would be prudent that the funding be directed toward infrastructure renewal.”
Cascades opened its doors in March on Pinewood Park Road.
