Kes discusses why his music breaks through in a changing soca and Carnival landscape and what to expect from IzWe

Kes The Band made music with Kardinal Offishall, used to perform at Kool Haus and recorded their break out hit Wotless in Toronto. His connections to this city runs deep. And the city returns the love at each one of their shows, whether it’s a Carnival adjacent fete or part of their branded Tuesdays On The Rocks shows.
Kes is back in Toronto for IzWe, his new festival concept evolved from Tuesday On The Rocks, taking place at Markham Fairgrounds on July 23. And he’ll return to Toronto for Carnival weekend, performing July 29 at SOS Fest’s J’Ouvert Night.
Before that he joined the NOW What podcast in our backyard (pardon the sounds of a reverberating garden table) to discuss his music, where he wants to take soca in an evolving landscape and what to expect from IzWe. Listen to the conversation on the NOW What podcast available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or the player below.
