North Bay police arrest three and seize $50,000 in drugs during traffic stop

North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime Unit arrested three people and seized more than $50,000 in drugs during a traffic stop Monday at 8:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Bloem Street.

The local crime unit received assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crime Unit, and the North Bay Police Service Emergency Response Team.

Three individuals were located in the vehicle, arrested and charged.

Ali Abdullah, male, 21, of Waterloo is charged with three counts of trafficking in Schedule I substance, three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, unauthorized possession of a weapon, knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon, occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, tampering with serial number of a firearm, careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, carrying concealed weapon and possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

Julian Paul Badger, male, 46 of North Bay, is charged with three counts of trafficking in Schedule I substance, three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, unauthorized possession of a weapon, knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon, occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, tampering with serial number of a firearm, careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, carrying concealed weapon and failure to comply with probation order.

Mohamad Choucair, male, 23 of Braeside, Ontario, is charged with three counts of trafficking in Schedule I substance, three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, unauthorized possession of weapon, knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon, occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, tampering with serial number of a firearm, careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, carrying concealed weapon, two counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order and driving while under suspension.

Searches by police resulted in the seizure of approximately 395 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 500 suspected hydromorphone pills, approximately seven suspected oxycodone pills, approximately 50 millilitres of suspected methadone, a loaded handgun, a prohibited extended magazine and accompanying ammunition, about pproximately $4,000 in Canadian currency and a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk seized as offence related property.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $50,000.

The accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
