Channel your inner artist with an introductory workshop to miniature painting of the Persian and South Asian tradition. Tazeen Qayyum (She/Her) a Pakistani-Canadian contemporary artist will demonstrate various techniques, including the making of qalam (brush) and work through a drawing assignment to reinforce a number of different techniques, including siyah qalam (drawing with a brush), the charba (image transferring), creating a jidwal (traditional border), and neem rung (colour wash).Drawing from complex issues of belonging and displacement within a socio-political context, Qayyum’s art is a way for her to navigate identity and beliefs living in the diaspora.
