Cyclist dead after bike-motorcycle collision near Thornbury

A cyclist is dead after a collision between a bicycle and a motorcycle at the west end of Thornbury Monday morning.

OPP with the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment said in a news release issued at about 3 p.m. they are not identifying the person killed until family can be notified.

Police said officers were called about the collision on Highway 26 at Grey Road 113 at about 9:30 a.m. Monday. The cyclist was taken to hospital by ambulance and was pronounced deceased.

Central Region OPP technical traffic collision investigators and reconstructionists were at the scene assisting with the investigation, police said. A part of Highway 26 west of Thornbury, between 11th Line and Peel Street, was expect to be closed for several hours.

Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage and has not yet spoken with police to call the Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
