Outbreak declared in Walsh Street long-term care home’s Sandpiper unit, while details of the spread remained unclear.
THUNDER BAY – An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at the Southbridge Pinewood long-term care home in Thunder Bay, affecting the home’s Sandpiper unit.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit provided no details on how many cases had been detected, or whether they involved residents or staff, in a release issued early Tuesday afternoon.
Admissions, transfers, discharges and social activities have been cancelled facility-wide until further notice, the health unit reported. Visitors are restricted to family members and caregivers only.
The Walsh Street home has 128 beds and is operated by Southbridge Care Homes.
